Automatic Climate Control System Services

We can diagnose and repair today's automatic climate control systems. This requires intricate diagnostic ability to access and test various components involved. After the cause of failure has been diagnosed an accurate estimate of repairs will be offered to the customer.

General Notice:
Repair procedures outlined herein will vary from vehicle to vehicle and may change entirely without advanced notice.

Heating and Cooling Systems

We perform many heating and cooling system services and repairs here such as coolant leaks, overheating problems, vent problems, heater cores, water pumps, radiators, hoses, cooling fan problems, radiator flushes, clutch fans, thermostats and more.

Factory Recommended Maintenance

Major maintenance services are usually recommended every 30,000 miles. We will follow your vehicle's manufacturer's recommendations. What is required will vary, but the following items are often called for:
  • Spark Plug Replacement

  • Fuel and Air Filter Replacement

  • Interior Ventilation Filter Replacement

  • Tire Rotation and Balancing

  • Oil and Filter Change

  • Complete Vehicle Lubrication

  • Complete Vehicle Inspection

  • Inspection Report with every major maintenance service.

Timing Belt Replacement

Applied Automotive Service will recommend upon inspection, new idler and tension pulleys, and (timing belt driven) water pumps in our Timing Belt Replacement Service. When we service your vehicle's timing belt you can rest assured it will not fail prematurely due to a worn out pulley or water pump.

NOTE: If your water pump is not driven by the timing belt, it may still be a good idea to replace it while the engine is this far apart. In this case, we will offer it as an option.

Transmission Fluid and Filter Change

We will either replace the transmission filter and pan gasket, or flush and replenish the transmission fluid or both. When the pan gasket and filter are replaced much of the fluid remains within the transmission and does not get replaced. When the fluid is flushed and replenished the filter and pan gasket (a common leak source) are not replaced. We usually recommend a complete fluid replenishment as well as the filter and pan gasket replacement.

Please Note:
Some vehicles today use synthetic fluid (most of these are not fitted with dipsticks so the wrong fluid cannot be added). The replacement interval on vehicles with synthetic fluid is usually 100,000

Transmission Replacement

Replacing your car’s transmission is an expensive service. The quality of the re-manufactured transmission is more important than the price. A cheap job that fails is much more expensive than a quality product. Working with a transmission re-manufacturing facility that we have had a relationship with for many years, makes us confident we are delivering the highest quality unit to our customers. Warranty is usually 36 months or 36,000 miles (which ever comes first).

We usually recommend re-manufactured automatic transmissions and offer used standard transmissions. Used automatic transmissions are prone to failure while a re-manufactured standard transmission is often not cost efficient.

Brake fluid is hydroscopic which means it can absorb moisture. Dirty brake fluid can cause premature failure of braking components, pedal fade, lower boiling point of brake fluid and other problems. During a brake inspection, we will inspect your fluid and advise you if your brake fluid should be flushed out and replaced with new brake fluid. This service should is performed per your manufacturer’s scheduled maintenance or when fluid is dirty.

Engine Tune-Up

We will replace your vehicle’s spark plugs, fuel filter, air filter, and PCV valve. Some vehicles have platinum spark plugs, which only require replacement every 2nd tune-up. We also recommend ignition wires and distributor caps be replaced at least every 3rd tune-up, or at 90,000 miles.

Please note: A tune-up is a maintenance service. Check engine light warnings, drivability symptoms and state emission test failures all require diagnostic time to determine the proper remedy.

Air Conditioner Systems Service

We service current systems equipped with r134a refrigerant It is not possible to determine the source of a refrigerant leak until the system is filled or re-charged. Once full we add a leak detection dye. If there is a major leak we can usually determine its source the same day. With minor leaks it may take several days or even months for the system to become low enough to fail. If the system fails within 1 year the leak detection dye will enable us to locate the source of this leak. We can also convert your R-12 system to R134a by installing a retrofit kit.

When you drive, do you:

Notice a loss in acceleration or power? Notice your engine hesitating, idling rough or stalling? Get fewer miles of driving per gallon of gasoline? Traditional tune-ups can't fix these problems.

What You Need is a MotoVac Carbon Clean Service
